Last Mile Manufacturing to be discussed at Democratic Governors Association Policy Conference
MILPITAS, CA - (June 13, 2012) - Sandeep Duggal, CEO of Extron Inc and Chairman of the Last Mile Manufacturing and Onshoring Initiative, will participate in a panel discussion on Job Creation and Innovation as part of the Democratic Governors Association Conference in Chicago today. Also participating on the panel will be Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon, North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue, Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, and three other manufacturing industry leaders.
Mr. Duggal will discuss the efforts of the Last Mile Manufacturing (LMM) and Onshoring Initiative, which is a non-profit, manufacturer-centric effort to return jobs that have been lost to offshoring to the United States. LMM’s efforts are centered on promoting and educating business and community leaders to a proven approach called Last Mile Manufacturing, which has significant economic and benefits for manufacturers, while creating jobs in the communities in which they exist.
The DGA panel discussion, one of three panels on Wednesday, will focus on the DGA’s theme &qout;Jobs. Opportunity. Now." Discussions will center on job creation, expanding business, growing the economy, and best practices. "Our efforts to promote the Last Mile Manufacturing approach, where companies return key parts of their offshore supply chains to the U.S. -- reducing costs, controlling loss of Intellectual Property (IP), improving flexibility, and reducing risk, while restoring U.S. jobs – are a great fit with the DGA conference theme," said Mr. Duggal.
